The Process Library includes three types of processes:
Base Processes
Base processes are the lowest-level processes we offer: our
atoms. They usually refer to a specific recipe on a specific
machine at one of our fabs. Choose these when you must, but modular
processes will usually be easier to work with.
Modular Processes
These are the most convenient and powerful processes we offer.
Modular processes allow you to add a bundled subsequence of steps all
at once. For processes like lithography that involve a sequence of
many base processes, this is a huge advantage. Because they help you
to assemble combinations of base processes that are designed to work
together to meet your specifications, modular processes are preferred.
Uncharacterized Processes
Uncharacterized processes are "blank" base processes for special
requests. If you can't find what you're looking for as a modular
process or a base process, you should use an uncharacterized process
to specify a processing step that would, if available, meet your
needs. We will query our fabs to see if any of them are able to
perform the process that you specified, and at what cost.
